I have lived in Florida since 1986, coming from western Pennslyvania. St. Lucie County, where I live, offers so much to any sports oriented person. St. Lucie West offers PGA Golf Courses and the PGA Learning Center. If you want to put your sand wedge to the test, try the Learning Center's variety of sand from all over world. A multitude of both public and private golf courses are at your disposal.For fishing, you can choose between the Atlantic Ocean, the Indian River Lagoon, and/or the smaller river tributaries throughout the county. You don't have to own a boat to fish many of the abundant river and pond areas.For the beach goer, St. Lucie County offers the most public beach accesses than any other nearby county. We even have a dog beach, Walton Rocks. Boaters do not have to own their dock to get plenty of ramp access to the water. Just choose one of the many public ramps in which to trailer your boat. The multitude of public parks will offer a variety of sport venues; such as tennis, basketball, softball; and soccer. Fort Pierce recently added a skate board park.Fort Pierce's historic downtown is located on the Indian River Lagoon. Every Saturday, between 8:00am and 12:00pm, is the Farmers Market; offering fresh produce, pastries, breads, crafts, and a beautiful view of the water.The first Friday of every month brings Friday Fest, featuring a local band, crafts, food, and entertainment.The historic Sunrise Theater, located downtown Fort Pierce, attracts big name entertainment at a reasonable price. A variety of culinary experiences are to be had in both Fort Pierce and Port St. Lucie.
